On the 27th, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi held talks in the capital Tehran with visiting Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed. The two sides exchanged views on easing regional tensions and creating conditions for dialogue.
A statement from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that the two sides discussed ongoing consultations around a phased framework during the meeting, including the establishment of a temporary shipping lane in the Strait of Hormuz. Both parties also agreed to jointly clear naval mines in the strait.
The statement said that Araghchi thanked Qatar for its efforts to ease tensions and promote dialogue and negotiations.
Mohammed emphasized the need to respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries and the freedom of navigation. He also stressed the importance of continued efforts to ease regional tensions and resolve differences through dialogue.
