(Miri, 4th) To clean beach environments and raise environmental awareness, multiple youth groups in Miri collaborated to organize a two-day beach cleanup event, attracting numerous groups and around 50 enthusiastic youths to contribute to Miri's environmental protection efforts.

This event was initiated by Miri Thai Poo Community Association Youth Section leader Chia Kah Furng and conducted a two-hour cleanup action over the mornings of March 1st and 2nd.

During the event, parents brought their children to pick up trash, demonstrating their firm determination to protect the beach and ocean, and further educating the children on the importance of environmental protection.
Chia Kah Furng stated that although cleaning up trash may seem insignificant, it carries an important environmental protection mission. He hopes that through practical action, the beaches in Miri can become cleaner.

He emphasized that environmental protection and education are not achieved in a day but require long-term commitment. He hopes that through such activities, more government and non-governmental organizations will be attracted to participate, gradually restoring beach environments.

“We hope that in the future, more groups will proactively initiate environmental activities to collectively promote Miri's beach cleanup efforts, making ecological protection a community consensus.”

He added that this event not only allowed young people to actively practice environmental actions but also further enhanced their awareness of ecological protection.

This beach cleanup activity received support from several youth groups and community units. Among those participating last Sunday (March 2nd) were Miri Hakka Association Youth, Miri Thai Poo Community Association Youth, Miri Chawan Association Youth Section, Miri Teochew Association Youth, Kwong Wai Siew Association Miri Division Youth, Miri Hing Ann Association Youth, Miri Education Initiative Society(MEIS) , Miri Chiang Hsia Huang Clan Association Youth,  Sarawak Miri Division Lin's Clan Association Youth, Miri Kaying Community Association Youth, and Miri  Liu Clan Association Youth.
