(Tehran, 26th) The Iranian Ministry of Oil stated that during the war and the subsequent ceasefire agreement with the United States, Iran sold a total of $18 billion (about RM73.6 billion) worth of oil.
According to AFP reports, the Iranian Ministry of Oil, in a statement published on its official website on the 25th, said: “During the war, the Ministry sold oil worth $11.5 billion; during the ceasefire, it sold oil worth $6.5 billion.”
“During this crisis, this already accounts for more than 60% of this year’s estimated oil revenue in the budget.”
However, the US-Iran ceasefire agreement broke down at the beginning of this month. Iran’s Parliamentary Speaker and chief negotiator, Ghalibaf, also said in late June that due to US blockades of Iranian ports, Iran is unable to export any oil.
The US and Iran reached a ceasefire in April, which briefly eased the conflict; however, by early July, hostile actions between the US and Iran over the strategic control of the Strait of Hormuz had escalated again.
