(Miri, 10th) Organized by the Miri Chinese Charity Trust Committee and hosted by Riam Road Secondary School, the '2024 Independent School Education Fund and Miri County Chinese Primary and Secondary Schools' Needy Students Scholarship Award Ceremony' was grandly held this morning at the Datuk Lee Teck Fook Auditorium of Riam Road Secondary School, presided over by Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

In his speech, Datuk Seri Law Hieng Ding, vice chairman of Riam Road Secondary School, expressed that it was an immense honor for the school to host this meaningful ceremony this year. He thanked the Chinese Charity Trust Committee for their long-term steadfast belief and practical actions in supporting Chinese education, particularly in the development of independent schools and assisting underprivileged students.

'The Chinese community has always valued education, with the belief that "education should never be neglected even in poverty" deeply rooted in people's hearts. The committee's annual awarding of education funds and scholarships is the best manifestation of this belief, helping countless students complete their studies with peace of mind.'

He also expressed special thanks to the distinguished guests attending the ceremony, including Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Lawyer Datuk Christopher Chin, and Miri Mayor Yu Siao Shan, for their continuous attention and support for the development of Chinese education, ensuring the steady progression and continuous growth of Miri's Chinese educational system.

Law Hieng Ding also extended heartfelt thanks to the school boards, principals, teachers, and parents, affirming that their collective efforts and trust are key to achieving the establishment of two independent Chinese schools and a comprehensive Chinese education system in Miri.

He urged the students receiving the scholarships to cherish this hard-won opportunity, study diligently, and in the future, give back to society, continuing the spirit of helping others.

'Every penny you receive today carries the goodwill and expectations of benevolent people in society. I hope that when you have the ability in the future, you will also contribute like them to Chinese education and needy students.'
