Number of Flood and Landslide Evacuees in Sarawak Continues to Decline

(Kuching, 13th) As of 7am this morning, there are still 11 temporary evacuation centers (PPS) operating in Sarawak, housing 1,801 evacuees from 565 households (KIR). These evacuees were forced to relocate due to floods and landslides.
The Secretariat of the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) noted that compared to the previous day, the overall number of evacuees has shown a downward trend.
In their statement, the secretariat said: "Currently, there are still 7 temporary evacuation centers operating in Serian, including the Lancha Hall, SK Pangkalan Sorah, Kampung Slabi Entukuh Hall, Siburan Community Hall, Indoor Basketball Court, and SK Tanah Putih, accommodating a total of 1,156 evacuees."

"The number of evacuees at all temporary evacuation centers in the area remains stable, with no changes."
The announcement added that only one temporary evacuation center remains in operation in Sibu, namely the SMK Bukit Assek Hall, housing just 6 evacuees from a single household.
In addition, in Bintulu, the number of evacuees at the Dewan Suarah Bintulu temporary evacuation center has dropped to 286 people, involving 102 households.

"As for Sebauh, there are still two temporary evacuation centers operating, accommodating a total of 325 evacuees, with the number unchanged."
"Regarding the landslide incident in Serian, the temporary evacuation center for Kampung Krusen Kranji residents is still accommodating 28 evacuees from 5 households; the situation also remains unchanged."
The statement pointed out that the authorities will continue to closely monitor the current disaster situation to ensure the welfare of evacuees is well taken care of, while also calling upon the public to remain vigilant and comply with all safety instructions issued by the authorities.
