According to Chinese state media, Mongolian President Khurelsukh told visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that friendship with China is the foremost guideline of Mongolia’s foreign policy, and that Mongolia will not do anything to damage Chinese interests because of its relations with other countries.

Xinhua News Agency reported that on Saturday (June 13), Khurelsukh met Wang Yi in the capital Ulaanbaatar.

The report quoted Khurelsukh as saying that Mongolia-China relations have become a model for relations between countries in the region. The two countries have always understood and trusted each other, respected each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and mutually beneficial cooperation continues to deepen. This year, bilateral trade volume is expected to reach US$20 billion (RM81.1 billion).

Khurelsukh said that China is Mongolia’s eternal good neighbor. Mongolia understands and respects China's position and concerns, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, considers Taiwan an inalienable part of Chinese territory, and does not support any form of “Taiwan independence”. Issues related to Hong Kong, Tibet, and Xinjiang are all considered China’s internal affairs. Mongolia is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in international and regional affairs and jointly practice these positions.

Wang Yi described China and Mongolia as eternal neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners. Under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, China-Mongolia relations have maintained an overall momentum of development.

Wang Yi stated that China's policy towards Mongolia remains stable and consistent, always placing the development of China-Mongolia relations in an important position in its neighborhood diplomacy. China is willing and able to be a neighbor Mongolia can rely on, a trustworthy friend, and a partner for accelerated development. China respects Mongolia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and respects Mongolia's independently chosen path of development.

He pointed out that China is willing to further strengthen development strategy alignment with Mongolia, tap into the potential of cooperation, advance existing cooperation in connectivity, energy and minerals, and trade and investment, and create more growth points in important minerals, green development, and the digital economy.

Wang Yi also said that China is willing to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with Mongolia under multilateral platforms such as China-Russia-Mongolia and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, unite with other countries of the Global South, and promote the building of a more just and reasonable global governance system.

During his visit to Mongolia, Wang Yi will also meet with Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene and hold talks with Mongolian Foreign Minister Batsetseg.
