Malaysian singer-songwriter Madison Lau (Madison) is celebrating his 15th anniversary since debut and will be holding two consecutive "Butterfly" concerts this Saturday and Sunday. He will not only perform his creations over the years but will also premiere his soon-to-be-released new songs “Qiu (湫)”, “Wilderness (旷野)”, and “Beyond Control (身不由己)”, witnessing a new milestone in his musical journey together with fans.

The concert stage is specially designed to resemble a recording studio, reflecting his most familiar and comfortable creative space. He also shared the three stages of his career: “Liu Hanjie” represents himself at the start of his debut; “Madison” is a balance of rationality and sensibility; and the current phase “Mad” symbolizes bold breakthroughs, freely making any music he desires. “All of my true self is in my music, but in real life, I’m probably still more like Madison.”

Now 27 years old, Madison Lau stunned the crowd at age 12 by participating in the "Astro Star Quest" and "Chinese Million Star" competitions. Looking back at his 15-year music career, he admits he's always been lucky and is grateful for the mentors who gave him opportunities along the way. "Everyone defines success differently. For me, having people willing to come to my show is already success." He also hopes everyone can find something they truly love in life and keep being themselves.
Madison Lau revealed that, to prepare for this concert, he spent two months enhancing his lung capacity and building muscle memory, hoping to step on stage in his best condition.
Before the concert, Madison shared in an interview that he started two months early to increase his lung capacity and establish muscle memory to perform at his best. He also said that last year was mainly about writing for others, but this year he plans to shift his focus back to himself and hopes for chances to perform on bigger stages in the future. Speaking of potential nationwide tours, he frankly admitted that touring costs are high and that he has to consider the market’s reaction. “If fans are willing to support, even if there’s some loss, I still want to do it and hope to have the chance to perform in my hometown Penang.”

In addition, he performed “2000km,” a song written for his girlfriend of 10 years at the concert. When asked about marriage, Madison laughed and said his mother has indeed been urging him to marry so she can have grandchildren soon. However, he feels the relationship is progressing naturally and comfortably, and that popping the question will happen when the time is right.
