Hollywood has been struck by tragedy once again! Veteran actress Valerie Perrine, best remembered for her enchanting and comedic turn as villainous secretary “Miss Eve Teschmacher” in the classic 1978 film Superman, has passed away peacefully at age 82 at her Beverly Hills home after a courageous 15-year battle with Parkinson’s disease. Upon news of her passing, current DC Studios head and director of the upcoming 2025 “Superman” reboot James Gunn was among the first to post a heartfelt tribute, mourning the loss of this legendary trailblazer.

Valerie’s death was confirmed by her longtime friend Stacey Souther. Stacey emotionally shared that even in her later years, Valerie faced the pain of illness with grace and indomitable spirit. Due to overwhelming medical expenses, friends have launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe to help cover the beloved actress’s final funeral costs, hoping to ensure she can complete her last journey with dignity.

Looking back on Valerie’s showbiz journey, it is nothing short of a Hollywood legend. Born in Texas in 1943, she first worked as a showgirl in Las Vegas, before a chance encounter with an agent at a dinner party unexpectedly opened the door to the big screen. In 1974, she reached the peak of her career, starring opposite Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman in Lenny. Her superb acting not only earned her a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars, but also won her the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival. Additionally, during her 1973 stage performance, a bold nude scene made her an iconic and controversial figure in American broadcast television history, showcasing her fearless spirit.
