A married couple in the United States recently flew to visit their college-aged daughter on the East Coast, but missed their boarding time because the wife insisted on going to another terminal to buy Starbucks coffee. The husband, frustrated, decided to board alone, leaving his wife stranded at the airport. The incident has sparked heated discussion on social media.
According to ETtoday News, the 47-year-old husband shared the story on Reddit, stating that his wife has a laid-back personality, and that the two often run into conflicts during trips due to their different senses of time. On this occasion, they had planned to take a 10 a.m. weekend flight, but the wife spent that morning making coffee, taking a shower, and eating breakfast, which caused them to miss the boarding time. The airline refused a refund, and they had to rebook for a flight the next day.
Going to Another Terminal for Coffee
The next day, they successfully boarded the first leg of their journey and arrived at their layover location at 9:15 a.m., with plans to board their connecting flight at 9:40. Since the transfer required taking a shuttle to another terminal, they only had 15 minutes upon arrival before boarding. At that critical moment, the wife suddenly insisted on buying Starbucks coffee. Although the husband suggested buying coffee nearby, the wife persisted and went to the Starbucks in another terminal.
The husband said that his wife confidently assured him she could make it back in time, but even after several boarding calls, there was no sign of her. When he called, he learned she was still on her way. Ultimately, the husband decided to "let her go" and boarded alone, asking his wife to buy a ticket for the next flight herself, and arranged to meet at their destination.
Afterwards, the husband revealed that his wife acted normal when she arrived at their daughter’s college, as if unfazed by the unpleasantness, leading him to believe she realized her mistake. However, when they returned home, a week-long cold war began, with his wife refusing to speak to him. The husband posted online, helplessly asking: “Am I the asshole?”
