(Bandar Seri Begawan, 9th) The 'Extracurricular Activity Implementation Guide' was officially released yesterday at the Seventh 2025 School Leaders Conference held in the banquet hall of the Tsazhun Military Exhibition Hall.
The guide, spearheaded by the Department of Extracurricular Activity Education, is the result of the concerted efforts of the Ministry of Education with school leaders. It provides guidance for schools to carry out extracurricular activities through the 'Student Development Plan' (PSP), aiming to promote the overall development of students in intellectual, mental, emotional, physical, and social aspects, while also cultivating potential and character in line with the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) ideology.
The Permanent Secretary of Core Education, Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati, attended as the conference's guest of honor.
This year's conference, themed 'Enhancing Skills for the Future for Students,' provides school leaders with first-hand information on policies, guidelines, procedures, and best practices.
One of the highlights of the conference was a keynote speech by Lim Cheng Tju, Deputy Director of the Student Development Division of the Singapore Ministry of Education, titled 'The Singapore School's Approach to Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) and LEAPS Framework,' which outlined Singapore's experiences and practices in the development of extracurricular activities.
A total of 426 school leaders from public and private primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, and sixth form centers under the Ministry of Education and the Islamic Studies Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs attended the conference.
The conference also adopted the slogan 'Quality Leaders, Quality Education,' aiming to promote cooperation, strengthen integration, enhance school leadership capabilities, and accountability, and to recognize schools for their excellent performance in public examinations and various fields.
The conference concluded with the issuance of appointment letters to new school leaders, and awards were presented to schools that excelled in public examinations and other areas. This included 10 primary schools receiving Primary Evaluation Awards, 6 secondary schools earning GCE 'O' level and IGCSE examination awards, 4 sixth form centers receiving GCE 'A' level awards, and 1 secondary school obtained BTEC program certification.
