Veteran singer David Wong rose to fame with songs such as “You Got Me Drunk” and “Let Everyone Be Heartbroken.” Earlier this year, he issued a statement announcing his departure from Taiwan to start a new life in Hawaii. Unexpectedly, his lawyer confirmed earlier that David Wong suddenly passed away on June 3rd at his sister’s home in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the age of 61. The cause of his sudden death has not been disclosed.
The lawyer’s statement mentioned that David Wong’s sisters Consulina Wong and Joann Wong are, by law, his heirs and will be fully responsible for handling his funeral affairs. The statement also pointed out that David Wong ended his life in Taiwan on December 27, 2025 and returned to Hawaii with his two sisters. From that point forward, apart from the two sisters, no one else, now or in the future, is authorized to act on behalf of David Wong.
In addition, except for the law firm, David Wong never authorized anyone to be his contact for entertainment business matters. The lawyer’s appointment was also directly authorized by the Wong family.
Although the cause of death is still unknown, David Wong had been hospitalized in August 2022 due to cardiac discomfort and underwent cardiac catheterization at that time, which he also publicly shared on social media. Hospital diagnosis showed that his cardiopulmonary function was overloaded, with a heart rate as high as 137 beats per minute—far above the normal range.
David Wong once confessed that he had no history of chronic diseases such as hypertension or hyperlipidemia and found his sudden heart failure hard to believe. Cardiac catheterization confirmed there was no vascular blockage and no surgery was needed. Wong later also announced his condition had stabilized. News of his confirmed passing has shocked many fans.
