According to the Beijing Meteorological Bureau, heavy rain and localized torrential rain will occur in Beijing from the night of the 10th to the night of the 11th, with the rainfall process lasting about 40 hours and a large cumulative rainfall amount.
China News Service reported that data shows from 8:00 am on the 10th to 8:00 am on the 11th, the city’s average precipitation reached 23.3 mm, with the maximum precipitation recorded at the Datang Market Meteorological Station in Pinggu District, Beijing, reaching 196 mm.
This round of heavy rainfall in Beijing is due to the combined influence of moisture transported from the outer bands of Typhoon “Bavi” and a westerly trough with cold air. The Beijing Meteorological Observatory stated that although the typhoon’s center does not directly affect Beijing, its abundant peripheral moisture can still be transported over hundreds of kilometers to North China.
From the 11th to the 12th, all trains on the city's suburban railway lines S2, Huairou-Miyun, and Tongmi will be suspended.
As of 9:00 pm on the 10th, a total of 181 tourist attractions, 167 tent campgrounds, and 4,311 rural homestays across the city have been closed; 73 elderly care institutions have been shut down due to the rain, with all elderly residents transferred to safe areas; citywide, 38,114 households and 102,859 people have been relocated.
