(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) A total of 35 participants from the Brunei Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food, University of Brunei, Brunei University of Technology, and rice farmers’ officials and staff received certificates at the official closing ceremony of the Brunei Hybrid Rice Senior Expert Advisor Project.
The event was held at the multipurpose hall of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism in Brunei.
The guest of honor attending the event was Dayang Hajah Tutiaty, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. Also in attendance were His Excellency Xiao Jianguo, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei, and officials from the ministry and its departments.
The project involved a 45-day hybrid rice technology course, with China sending six experts and a translator to our country to conduct the course.
The course is part of the continued cooperation between Brunei and China in the field of rice planting, aimed at supporting the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism in Brunei in increasing national rice productivity and yield through improved rice production.
Through this cooperative endeavor, it is hoped that Brunei can find more high-quality, high-yield rice varieties suitable for domestic cultivation, while also enhancing the hybrid technology capabilities of local farmers to ensure the advancement and resilience of our country's rice and rice production over a long period.
