Don't Drag Police or Public into National Flag Controversy, Takiyuddin Tells DAP and UMNO to Resolve Internally

(Kuala Lumpur, 17th) Regarding the incorrect display of the national flag, PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin urges DAP and UMNO to resolve conflicts through internal discussions, rather than dragging the police or the public into the incident.
He pointed out that both parties are escalating the controversy for their respective reasons and motives. "Don’t involve the police and increase their unnecessary workload, or plunge the society into unhealthy and non-constructive discourse."
"In fact, this controversy arose simply because an individual hung the national flag upside down, and the person is currently under police investigation."
Takiyuddin stated that his party has clearly instructed their youth wing not to get involved.
Takiyuddin also described DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke's instruction for the Socialist Youth to lodge a police report against UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Akmal for his actions in Penang as excessive, strange, and possibly further escalating the situation.
He urged both sides to respect and support the police’s formal investigation, instead of adding unnecessary pressure. Otherwise, the incident could become even riskier.
