(Kuala Lumpur, 26th) The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) emphasized the importance of lifelong immunization during the 2025 National Immunization Day event and announced that all pregnant women in Malaysia can now receive the Tdap vaccine for free.
The Tdap vaccine can prevent tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough), expanding the previously provided coverage which only included the tetanus vaccine. This initiative takes effect immediately, and the vaccine is available in all MOH primary healthcare facilities offering maternal and child healthcare services.
This year's event theme is “Nationwide Immunization, Achieving It Together,” echoing the World Immunization Week, emphasizing that vaccination is a cost-effective fundamental health intervention that can protect individuals from fetuses to the elderly.
The Ministry of Health pointed out that comprehensive immunization programs have played a crucial role in eradicating smallpox, reducing preventable diseases, and saving thousands of lives annually.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health urges parents to ensure their children are vaccinated on time and encourages adults and the elderly to update their vaccination records promptly to prevent serious health threats.
