(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th) The Royal Brunei Police Force, today in a joint operation with multiple enforcement agencies, conducted surprise inspections at two locations around the city area, successfully exposing several cases involving drugs, contraband items, and labor law violations.

This inspection operation was coordinated by the Muara Police District as part of a series of security measures for the Sultan of Brunei’s birthday celebrations, mobilizing a total of 171 enforcement personnel from various units.

During the operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau detained four men, all suspected of consuming controlled substances. Their cases will be handed over for further investigation and prosecution procedures.

Meanwhile, the Royal Customs and Excise Department detained three men and one woman at the scene for possession of untaxed contraband cigarettes, in violation of national tobacco and customs regulations.

On the other hand, Ministry of Labour officials also uncovered multiple violations of the Employment Order 2009, including employers not providing annual and sick leave certified by a doctor, unauthorized salary deductions, failure to report employees' actual residential addresses, provision of unsanitary accommodation, and failure to arrange return air tickets for foreign workers.

The above-mentioned violations will be dealt with in accordance with the law, and follow-up actions will be taken against the relevant employers.

Enforcement agencies urge all employers to consciously comply with relevant laws and regulations, safeguard labor rights, and remind the public to continue supporting the nation’s efforts to uphold public safety and labor justice.
