Starting Anew After Gen1es Disbandment Elyn: It’s Not Necessarily a Bad Thing

Formed through the audition show “Produce Camp Asia,” the 9-member girl group Gen1es announced their disbandment in less than two years. Malaysian member Elyn Leong Yuling (Elyn) spoke for the first time about her feelings after being released from her contract at the press conference for her second solo single “Little Us” on Friday. She admitted she felt confused when first notified, but after calming down, she chose to see this turning point as an opportunity for a fresh start.

Elyn revealed that the company notified the members of the decision about a month before the disbandment. “I was really confused at first, but after taking a moment to think, I realized it might not be a bad thing.” She expressed that although her group career had ended, it gave her the chance to plan for the future anew and continue to chase her dreams as a solo singer.

After the group officially disbanded in February this year, Elyn took less than three months to readjust. Following her debut single “Call 911,” which kicked off her solo journey in a bold, playful, and full-of-personality style, she now releases the completely different “Little Us.”

She described “Little Us” as a song dedicated to her inner child, meant also for that past self who held onto dreams and always believed in the future. Through her music, she hopes to accompany everyone striving forward on their life journey.
Elyn also livened up the atmosphere with a live singing and dancing performance of 'Call 911'.
Elyn specially invited 5-year-old online sensation Somi to play her childhood self in the new MV.
Having grown up as a child star, Elyn admitted that she left her hometown to pursue her dreams at a young age, and faced many uncertainties in strange environments. But in order not to worry her family, she always shared good news and not bad, trying hard to play the role of a mature adult. “After pretending to be a grown-up for so long, I feel like I really have become one.”

However, when asked whether she liked being an adult, she immediately shook her head and smiled: "No! I don’t want to be an adult." She misses the lively, cheerful, and cute child who wasn’t afraid to express herself, and hopes she can hold on to that innocence and passion in the future.

Although the group has disbanded, Elyn revealed that she is still in touch with the other Gen1es members, and they just met for a get-together in Thailand last week. However, she laughed and said she didn't let them hear the new song in advance: "Nope, I want it to be a surprise!"

Talking about her future plans, she laughed and said she hopes to release a song in Thai one day. But for now, her main task is to improve her Thai skills and prepare herself to take on more languages and different music styles in the future.
Many of Elyn’s friends from the entertainment circle attended the launch of her new single to show their support.
