2025 Sarawak Day Main Celebration to Take Place in Miri – Lee Kim Shin Calls for Public Participation to Build Prosperity Together

(Miri, 20th) — In conjunction with the 2025 Sarawak Day (Hari Sarawak) main celebration, Sarawak Minister of Transport and Organizing Committee Chairman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin officially announced at a press conference at the Miri District Office today that the main celebration will be grandly held from July 20th to 22nd in Miri.

This year’s Sarawak Day theme is "Sarawak Towards Prosperity" (Sarawak Maju Makmur), symbolizing the state's continued pursuit of prosperity, harmony, and comprehensive development. Lee Kim Shin pointed out that the theme not only reflects the state government’s inclusive and sustainable development policy, but also emphasizes the importance of everyone sharing the fruits of development.

"We hope that through this celebration, we can strengthen people’s sense of belonging and identity, inspire the love for our state among all citizens, and jointly build a more progressive and harmonious Sarawak."

He stated that to ensure the smooth progress of the celebration, the main committee has specially appointed six deputy ministers to assist in the coordination, demonstrating the state government’s high level of commitment. The six deputy ministers are Dato Rosie, Dato Annuar, Dato Penguang, Dato Dr. Sim, Dato Gerawat, and Dato Liew Bin Lamat.

This celebration is coordinated by the Sarawak Government Protocol and Event Management Unit (UPPANS), co-organized with relevant government agencies and local entities. The event content is rich and diverse, covering religion, sports, culture, youth, business, and community participation.

Lee Kim Shin pointed out that Sarawak Day is not only an important moment to review history and commemorate autonomy, but also a platform to unite all ethnicities and bring people together.

"We want people to understand that this is not just a celebration of the past, but also a vision for the future. Sarawak moving towards prosperity is not just the government's goal, but the responsibility of every citizen."

He urged residents of Miri and surrounding areas to enthusiastically participate in all activities and support this community-wide event with their actions.

Lee Kim Shin also added that the state government will continue to promote development packages for Miri, including the deepening of Miri Port, expansion of Miri Airport, new road construction, and research and development in education and healthcare, to ensure "Sarawak Towards Prosperity" is not just a slogan, but manifests in concrete achievements.
