(Miri 13th) Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting has secured an approval for a RM100,000 grant through the 2024 Rural Transformation Plan to assist in the upgrading project of the Kampung Pasir multi-purpose hall in the Lutong area.
This morning, Sebastian Ting accompanied by his private secretary , contractors, and others, visited the site to inspect and understand the repair project, which is expected to be completed this year.
Sebastian Ting stated that this repair project, costing RM100,000, will include the administrative and activity rooms next to the multi-purpose hall, refurbishing the ceiling, replacing doors and windows, expanding two toilets, repainting, etc.
“The first phase of the project received a RM60,000 grant in 2019 for repair work, followed by a RM150,000 grant in 2021 for the second phase, which included building a stage, fences, refurbishing the wooden hall and laying tiles, and was completed on January 19, 2022.”
He pointed out that upon the villagers' request, he applied again last year through the 2024 Rural Transformation Plan and successfully obtained RM100,000 to carry out the third phase of renovation, adding two toilets for the villagers to use during events or gatherings.
Sebastian Ting hopes the multi-purpose hall facilities will be utilized for beneficial health and recreational activities for the villagers.
