Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi stated in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on the 8th, that Iran is prepared for any possible situation of war, but Iran does not seek war and is still willing to conduct negotiations on the basis of mutual respect.
According to the Lebanese National News Agency, Araqchi said that previous attempts by the United States and Israel to confront Iran have all ended in failure, and any new attempt will meet the same fate. Iran will continue consultations with countries in the region to cope with current challenges.
According to reports, Araqchi led an economic delegation to Lebanon that day to start a two-day visit, during which he will meet with senior Lebanese officials. Araqchi stated that the main purpose of this visit is to hold consultations with Lebanon on regional affairs amid the escalating tensions in the region.
Trump Issues New Threat to Iran
U.S. President Trump again issued threats to Iran regarding protests on the 8th, stating that if there are additional deaths, the U.S. will carry out “severe strikes” against Iran.
During an interview with a radio station on that day, Trump said that the United States is closely monitoring the unrest unfolding in Iran, and he is not certain “whether someone must be held accountable,” but if the Iranian authorities are directly responsible for any related deaths, “they will pay a heavy price.”
