Brave Boy Swims Across Raging Floods to Seek Help, Rescues Friends Trapped by Floodwaters

Severe flooding occurred in northern Phetchabun Province, Thailand. Four boys were trapped on a tree, and one brave boy risked swimming through the raging floodwaters to seek help from the outside, in order to rescue his companions stuck on the tree.

According to Thai media The Thaiger quoting Siam News, Prajit, president of the Sawang Monkhon Sattha Rescue Foundation, noted on September 1 that when their team went to Lom Sok District's disaster area to distribute food, local residents came forward to seek help.

He said that according to the residents, four boys had climbed a tree and were trapped in the flood, waiting for rescue, but no one was passing by that area.

"One of the boys, who was a skilled swimmer, decided to risk his life, braving the raging floodwaters, and swam to a nearby community to seek help."

Prajit said that after receiving the call for help, the team immediately set out for the location indicated by the boy, where they found the other three boys clutching tightly onto a large tree, surrounded by deep water. They were soaked, looked terrified, and were clearly very frightened.

Rescue workers comforted them and carefully used a boat to take them to safety before reuniting them with their parents.

Afterward, the boys told the media that they had originally left their homes in Ban Na Luang Community on foot to check out the flooding in Lom Sok town center. On their way back, they waded through the water until they approached Sirin Christian School.

Unaware that a canal had been completely covered by the rising floodwater, they were suddenly swept away by strong currents and could only cling to trees for survival until one of them swam back to the community to call for help.

Additionally, Prajit said the currents at the site were extremely fierce—even navigating a boat was dangerous. He highly praised the boy's courage and swimming skills, saying that it was his brave actions that saved his friends.

Thai PBS reported on September 2 that several areas of Lom Sok District had been submerged for days. Although water levels have receded in some places, allowing residents to begin cleaning their homes, many homes are still flooded.
