(Sarikei, 18th) A pickup truck driver sustained a head injury in a self-collision accident that occurred on the Pan Borneo Highway between the 71.5-kilometer mark from Sibu to Mukah on Tuesday evening.
Sarikei District Police Chief DSP Mathew Manggie stated that the 44-year-old driver Wong Ching Mee from Sibu suffered injuries to his head, arms, and legs in the accident and is currently receiving treatment at Sarikei Hospital.
"The accident occurred at approximately 5:12 PM on Tuesday. At the time, the victim was driving a pickup truck from Sibu towards Kuching, and when he reached the Sarikei junction, the vehicle lost control, veered off the road, hit the road barriers on both sides, and overturned," Mathew stated.
He added that the pickup truck was severely damaged as a result of the accident, and the case is currently being investigated under Section 10 of the Act 166/59.
