Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah announced that the government has increased the allocation for this year's Housing Loan Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) by RM10 billion, which is estimated to benefit over 20,000 borrowers.

He said that the government increased this allocation considering the current gig economy trend, as more people are working in informal sectors as freelancers.

He stated that the Unity Government is aware that groups without a fixed income face challenges in obtaining loans when buying their first home.

He said this in his speech while officiating the launch of the '2025 Budget Initiatives - Housing and Business Financing Guarantees.'

Additionally, Amir pointed out that in the 2025 budget, the government announced an allocation of RM20 billion for the Business Financing Guarantee Scheme (SJPP) to support SME financing.

“This allocation is expected to provide guarantees of up to 80% for SME financing, particularly targeting companies in key sectors such as the halal industry, high technology; environment, social, and corporate governance (ESG), and tourism.”
