A Chinese passenger bus with a capacity of 9 but carrying 16 people was overloaded and rear-ended a truck on a Henan highway in the early hours of the 28th, resulting in 13 deaths and 3 injuries.
According to a report from the Traffic Management Bureau of China's Ministry of Public Security on the 28th, at around 2:40 a.m. that day, a Datong passenger bus with license plate number E F8A7L8 rear-ended a semi-trailer truck at kilometer 991+800 on the Tongbai Maoji section of the G40 Hushan Expressway in Nanyang, Henan Province.
After the accident, the Ministry of Public Security attached great importance and quickly dispatched a working group led by the head of the Traffic Management Bureau to Nanyang to guide the investigation and handling of the accident.
Preliminary investigation shows that the involved bus had an approved capacity of 9 passengers, but there were 16 people on board at the time of the incident, nearly doubling the allowed load.
The exact cause and specific details of the accident are currently under further investigation, and the 3 injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment.
