74-year-old veteran Hong Kong actor Lee Lung Kei appeared at the prison gates in July 2025 holding 60 roses to welcome his fiancée, Wang Qingxia, who is 36 years his junior, upon her release. Overcome with emotion, he tearfully called out “Wife! Wife!” which touched many people. This May-December relationship, or 'grandpa-granddaughter romance,' had already been fraught with controversy due to Wang Qingxia’s imprisonment. In October, wild rumors circulated that she fled with HK$4.6 billion (about RM2.4 billion), and even had an illegitimate child. On December 30, 2025, there was a new development: Lee Lung Kei admitted in an interview that the relationship had ended.
In an exclusive interview with Sing Tao Headline, Lee Lung Kei admitted for the first time that he had broken up with Wang Qingxia, whom he dated for 14 years. A YouTuber claimed that Wang Qingxia had actually been married all along and had a 16-year-old son. During the interview, Lee Lung Kei was moved to tears, admitting for the first time, “I’m the third party!”
This relationship faced its biggest test at the beginning of 2024, when Wang Qingxia was charged with seven counts including overstaying in Hong Kong, using forged documents, and working illegally there. She was eventually sentenced to prison. During her legal troubles and incarceration, Lee Lung Kei showed undying devotion by visiting her many times, often tearfully speaking to the media, and even pledging openly: “I will fulfill my promise and marry her after she is released.”
Unexpectedly, after being released in July 2025, Wang Qingxia was deported to Foshan, China. Afterwards, the couple’s relationship became low-profile, and Lee Lung Kei often said that Wang Qingxia hoped to be forgotten by the public. However, recently a YouTuber revealed shocking news that Wang Qingxia had actually married a man surnamed Chen back in 2007 and had a son with him. Chen also reportedly held an important position at Wang’s father’s factory. After these rumors broke out, Lee Lung Kei initially said he needed to “look into it,” but finally admitted the breakup, confirming that the 14-year-long May-December relationship was over.
