North Korean media reported that Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping stated his willingness to work with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to guide relevant departments and localities of both sides to implement the important consensus reached, and to lead China-North Korea relations towards long-term, healthy, and stable development.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday (July 5), Kim Jong Un received a reply letter from Xi Jinping on Wednesday (July 1) of last week. In his reply, Xi Jinping said that on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Kim Jong Un sent a cordial congratulatory message, fully reflecting the deep friendship that Kim Jong Un and the North Korean party, government, and people hold for himself and the Chinese party, government, and people.
Xi Jinping stated that the Communist Party of China and the Workers’ Party of Korea are both Marxist ruling parties. Over the years, the two parties have led their peoples in unity, sharing weal and woe, life and death, throughout the era of national independence and liberation, and have continued to struggle and forge ahead together on the broad road of socialist construction, driving the continuous development of each party’s and country’s undertakings, and injecting strong impetus to the inheritance of China-North Korea friendship.
Xi Jinping also mentioned his recent state visit to North Korea, expressing gratitude to Kim Jong Un for the warm and high-standard arrangements. He said he is willing to work with Kim Jong Un to guide the relevant departments and localities to implement the important consensus reached by both sides, leading the long-term, healthy, and stable development of China-North Korea relations, promoting the steady and long-term advancement of the socialist cause in both countries, benefiting the peoples of both countries, and making positive contributions to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and even the world.
Last Wednesday marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and on that day Kim Jong Un sent a congratulatory message to Xi Jinping. According to KCNA, Kim Jong Un stated that continuously strengthening and developing the deep-rooted China-North Korea friendship, with socialism at its core, is the steadfast stance of the North Korean party and government.
Kim Jong Un said that the recent Pyongyang meeting was a historic opportunity, once again affirming the determination of both sides to deepen mutual comradeship and trust, and more powerfully steer the socialist construction and traditional friendship between the two countries.
Kim Jong Un stated that the party’s leadership is a reliable guarantee for the absolute advantage of China-North Korea relations, and said that he is willing to work with Xi Jinping to further promote the common cause of the two parties, namely, socialism; and at the same time, to follow the demands of the times to continue to elevate and develop the friendly and cooperative relations between China and North Korea, which is the common asset of the peoples of both countries.
On June 9, Xi Jinping concluded his first visit to North Korea in seven years. According to Xinhua News Agency, Xi Jinping said that he and Kim Jong Un reached important consensus on developing China-North Korea relations in the new era, and conducted in-depth exchange of views on safeguarding regional and world peace and stability. "Mutual understanding between China and North Korea is becoming deeper and more comprehensive, and the future direction of development is increasingly clear."
On June 8, Xi Jinping paid a two-day state visit to North Korea, his first visit abroad this year and his first to North Korea in seven years. The last meeting between Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un was in September last year, when Kim Jong Un attended the "September 3rd Military Parade" in Beijing.
