(Kuching, 28th) Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has spread its influence worldwide, with a total of 63,311 students from 60 countries having graduated from UNIMAS as of December this year.

Meanwhile, UNIMAS also achieved a graduate employment rate of 90.8% in 2023, surpassing the national average.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNIMAS, Professor Ahmad Hata Rasit, disclosed to the media that the university has successfully nurtured tens of thousands of alumni over the years and has more than 90% of its graduates entering the workforce, primarily due to the implementation of various strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing graduates' employability.

He stated that UNIMAS actively trains outstanding students through its Student Development Centre, offering programs such as resume writing workshops, interview training, and industrial training schemes.

He mentioned that the university has also launched a student startup initiative, which promotes student innovation by enabling them to develop and manage real business enterprises within the campus.

“This initiative not only provides students with entrepreneurial experience but also enables them to create job opportunities for the local community.”

Additionally, he said that UNIMAS also assists students in being fully prepared for employment by focusing on physical, psychological, and spiritual readiness through the implementation of the postgraduate professional programs.
