Gerakan Deputy President Hoh Khai Mun has confirmed that the Johor State Gerakan Liaison Committee has decided not to participate in this Johor state election, but the final decision awaits a meeting of the party's Central Working Committee.

Hoh Khai Mun, who is also the chairman of Gerakan's Central Election Committee, told Guanghua Daily in an interview on Thursday (25th) that he has received notification from the Johor State Gerakan Liaison Committee, resolving not to participate in this Johor state election.

He said, therefore, Gerakan will convene a meeting of the party's Central Working Committee tonight to make a final decision in the meeting on whether to participate in the Johor state election.

In addition, according to reporters' understanding, in this Johor state election, Gerakan has been allocated 4 seats to contest. Among these 4 seats, some are constituencies with a majority Chinese electorate, while others are mixed constituencies.

However, the 4 state seats given to Gerakan were the 'leftover bones' after internal negotiations within Perikatan Nasional. At the same time, these state seats are also constituencies where Gerakan grassroots leaders are unfamiliar.
