(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei has approved a total of 1,361 applicants to become Bruneian citizens.
In response, the Department of Immigration and National Registration (JIPK) under the Ministry of Home Affairs held the 43rd Citizenship Certificate Presentation Ceremony yesterday in the Jerudong Military Exhibition Hall.

“For those who have obtained citizenship and their families, this moment carries extraordinary significance.”
He said that as part of the government’s ongoing reforms and commitment to service, the Ministry of Home Affairs through the JIPK has implemented numerous reforms and improvements to policies, procedures, and processes to enhance the people’s well-being.
He stated that the guidelines and eligibility requirements for applications for permanent resident status have been updated and will take effect on December 31, 2024.
He added that these efforts have successfully processed all applications, including some pending ones, demonstrating the government's continued care for the welfare of applicants.
“Upholding national harmony and prosperity is the cornerstone of our country, and it is our collective responsibility.”
“Without harmony, development will stagnate; without prosperity, achievement has no meaning.”
