Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin Visits Taman Ceria Affordable Housing to Ensure Gas Supply Before Hari Raya

(Miri, 29th) Sarawak Minister of Transport and Senadin Assemblyman  Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin  visited the residents of Taman Ceria in Permyjaya, Miri, ensuring they smoothly receive natural gas supply before Hari Raya, improving their living convenience.

Lee Kim Shin stated that the installation of the natural gas pipeline in Taman Ceria is progressing smoothly. The first phase, involving 13 households, was completed and operational by January 2024; the second phase, involving 125 households, has been completed with 53 households currently using it.

Now, with Hari Gawai approaching, he hopes that the related units can speed up the progress again, ensuring more families can enjoy a stable gas supply before the festival.

On visiting the seven households along 4-5 Street and 4-6 Street in Taman Ceria, Li said the second phase involves a total of 125 households, and the completion of gas pipeline installation for some has brought convenience to local residents, significantly enhancing their quality of life during the impending Hari Raya.

He urged the Petros team to promptly complete connections and safety inspections, ensuring residents can safely use natural gas, eliminating reliance on traditional gas cylinders.

He disclosed that one resident uses approximately one gas cylinder per week for baking pastries, costing 26 MYR each, totaling over 100 MYR per month. Natural gas pipelines not only reduce costs but also increase convenience, eliminating the need to hunt for gas cylinders. Furthermore, a stable gas supply enables smoother baking and selling of pastries to enhance household income.

Accompanied by the Senadin service center team, Li visited Taman Ceria residents this morning to understand gas usage and presented Hari Raya gift baskets.

The gas supply plan is provided by Petros, with residents only needing to pay the usage fee, while the installation expenses are covered by Petros as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. 

Interviewed residents expressed gratitude to the Sarawak government for the free installation of natural gas, providing economic and living convenience.
