While aboard an airplane at ten thousand meters high, a passenger suddenly remembered that he might have left the gas stove on at home just before departure, with eggs still boiling on it. He sought help from the crew, and through coordinated efforts, a potential fire disaster was ultimately averted.
According to a report by China’s Dahe Daily, on flight 9C8549 from Shanghai Pudong to Singapore, a passenger surnamed Wang suddenly and anxiously informed the crew mid-flight that, in his rush to leave home, he might have forgotten to turn off the gas stove, with eggs still boiling which could potentially cause a fire.
Upon learning this, the captain immediately contacted the ground customer service center, providing key information such as the passenger's property management contact, home address, and smart door lock password.
After receiving the report, the customer service center quickly activated the emergency response mechanism and immediately called the property management office. Although the property management initially doubted the authenticity of the call, causing communication to hit a brief stalemate, customer service staff member Feng Junli persisted and called again. With sincerity and a clear explanation of the urgency and authenticity of the situation, and by emphasizing the information originated from the flight crew and was formally authorized by the passenger, she ultimately convinced property management to cooperate.
The property staff then visited the home and discovered that the gas stove was indeed still burning and the eggs in the pot had long dried up, emitting thick smoke.
The staff immediately turned off the gas valve and opened windows for ventilation, successfully preventing a potential fire.
After confirming safety on a third call, Feng Junli promptly reported the results back to the flight crew. The passenger, upon learning that his home was now safe, repeatedly thanked the crew and customer service: “Thank you for saving my home.”
