The Israel Defense Forces and the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, responsible for coordinating aid shipments to Gaza, issued a joint statement on the 28th saying that Israel is preparing to expand its military operations against Hamas in Gaza City and will push Gaza residents to move to the south during the process.
The statement pointed out that the Israeli military is preparing to expand its operations in Gaza City, with the goal of causing the collapse of Hamas. At the same time, Israel will ensure the safe evacuation of Gaza’s residents to the southern part of Gaza and will take a series of measures to improve the humanitarian situation in southern Gaza, including facilitating the entry of tents and temporary shelters into Gaza and establishing more field hospitals.
The Israeli military previously stated that Gaza City is one of Hamas’s remaining two strongholds in Gaza, and that it will mobilize 60,000 reservists to participate in the assault.
Of Gaza’s population of over 2 million, about 1 million are currently living in Gaza City, including local residents and a large number of displaced people.
