(Miri, 6th) Organized by Miri Chung Hua (National Type) Middle School, co-organized by the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, and with technical support from Wen Yu Holdings, the 2025 Borneo International Robot Championship will be held from May 7th to 10th in the Grand Banquet Hall of the Miri Meritz Hotel.

This event has attracted 220 teams from both domestic and international sources, including 48 teams in the primary school category (ages 9-12), 48 teams in the junior high school category (ages 13-15), 48 teams in the high school category (ages 16-18), 33 teams in the robot sports group—tennis (ages 11-18), and 44 open groups participating in this grand event.

Among them, 167 teams are from Malaysia, while another 53 teams come from countries such as China, Taiwan, and Macau. This diversified international participation is expected to enhance the visibility and competitiveness of the event.

Miri District Education Office official Marian highly praised Chung Hua Middle School for hosting this international event. She pointed out that the Ministry of Education has always been committed to promoting science and technology education through organizing various competitions, aiming to enhance the capabilities of our students in high-level thinking skills, computer technology, robotic invention, and scientific and industrial research. Chung Hua's timely and proactive hosting of such activities demonstrates a spirit at the forefront of the era.

She said that to integrate with the world, the Ministry of Education is also actively promoting this event globally, aiming to create a platform for exchange and learning between students of our country and foreign students. Through interaction and cooperation during the competition, participants can not only learn from each other's experiences and techniques but also understand the development status of different countries in the field of robotics, further promoting cross-border cooperation and exchange. This cross-cultural interaction helps expand students' international perspectives, deepens their understanding of global technological developments, and lays the foundation for establishing international friendships and cooperation.

Marian further stated that all students from our country participating in this event can earn extracurricular activity points in the Physical and Extracurricular Activity (PAJSK) program.

Chung Hua School principal Lai Jialing expressed full confidence in successfully organizing this international event. Over the years, Chung Hua has been committed to discovering students' potential, inspiring creativity, and exploring unlimited imagination space, with the hope of cultivating future pillars capable of contributing to society. Therefore, the international robot competition is not only a platform for technological exchange but also an important avenue for promoting international exchange and cooperation.

As the school with the most science classes in high school in the Miri region, Chung Hua has long encouraged students to propose innovative thinking and solutions, actively nurturing their creativity and innovative spirit. At the same time, the school offers students ample freedom and practical space, allowing them to freely explore and experiment, discovering their potential and areas of interest.

Principal Lai further pointed out that many people often think that artificial intelligence and robotics technology are still far from our daily lives, but in reality, they have already quietly infiltrated every aspect of life. For example, in the home domain, intelligent vacuum cleaners can automatically clean the floor, and smart cameras can monitor home security in real-time; in the field of education, intelligent educational robots can provide personalized teaching content and tutoring services based on students' learning conditions and needs, helping students learn and grow better.

In the field of sports, AI and robotics technology are also rapidly developing, not only helping athletes optimize their training and performance but also identifying athletes' weaknesses and areas for improvement by analyzing large amounts of data, allowing coaches to formulate more scientific training plans. At the same time, AI technology is also applied in assistant referee systems to help referees make more accurate judgments, ensuring the fairness and impartiality of competitions.
