(Bakun, 5th) – Julau Member of Parliament Sun Wei Xuan emphasized that the leaders of Bakun and Julau prioritize not just politics, but focus on the well-being of the people through close cooperation between leaders and the community.
He said that community leaders, KMKK (community and village chiefs), and state assemblymen always maintain good relationships, and even if they are from different political parties, they continue to strengthen cooperation for the development and progress of the people.

“We are not playing politics every day. Instead, we put the people’s welfare first. As part of the government, we always find ways to come together, even if we come from different parties, because our common goal is to build the country and benefit the people,” he said.
He made these remarks while delivering a speech last Saturday at the Mangkung Tiang ceremony (house-raising ceremony) for the newly completed Janting Dundang longhouse in Lemujan, Bakun.
Sun Wei Xuan also applauded the residents of the longhouse for successfully building a modern new longhouse while maintaining the spirit of unity and cooperation. “Nothing is easy at the beginning. For example, planting oil palm takes almost three years before it bears fruit, but it can yield sustainably for up to 20 years. This is just like the effort and dedication that went into building this longhouse,” he said.
He pointed out that the residents faced many challenges during the process, including finding land, preparing the site, and raising funds through loans or personal savings, but ultimately achieved results they could be proud of.

He also hopes that the unity among the residents will continue to grow stronger, and that this longhouse, currently home to 50 families, will continue to be one of the longest longhouses in the Bakun area, apart from Nyalak Ladong.
“I hope that all residents can live in harmony and cooperate with one another, not only within their own community but also in collaboration with other longhouses,” he said.
In conjunction with the celebration, Sun Wei Xuan announced an allocation of RM50,000 to the JKKK Rumah Janting longhouse village committee and RM10,000 to the Women’s Bureau (Biro Wanita) to support the implementation of community activities.
