Chinese director Zheng Jifeng, who rose to fame for playing 'President Zheng' in Stephen Chow’s film 'The Mermaid', was unexpectedly reported at the beginning of the year for allegedly molesting children, resulting in police detention. On the 12th, the local procuratorate approved his arrest, and the case is currently awaiting prosecution.
While conducting actor auditions in Haikou City, Hainan Province, Zheng Jifeng allegedly molested underage female participants during rehearsals, under the pretense of instructing dance moves. After police received the report, he was arrested on January 17th. The case has now reached a new development: on the 12th, his arrest was formally approved by the procuratorate and the case is currently pending prosecution.
A victim, Ms. Wang, revealed that at the age of 13, she was sexually harassed and molested by Zheng Jifeng under the guise of filming. She added that nearly all seven women in the crew had been kissed by him, with the youngest victim only 12 years old. She further disclosed that Zheng Jifeng once lured her to a hotel on the grounds of changing her role, but was able to escape thanks to a timely phone call.
