(Kuching, 30th) The 2025 Sarawak Youth Week will be held in Bintulu from October 13 to 19, featuring a series of vibrant programs aimed at celebrating and empowering the new generation of youth.
Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, stated that this annual state-level celebration aims to recognize the important role of youth as agents of change and future leaders of Sarawak.
“This year's theme is ‘Belia Aspirasi Kita’ (Youth, Our Aspiration), highlighting that youth are the nation's hope, the driving force for transformation through creativity and innovation, and the guardians of the people’s pursuit of progress, prosperity, and a just society.” He stated this at a press conference today.
The event’s highlights include three main segments: Youth Champion, Youth X-Tive, and Youth Marketplace. Key activities include boxing workshops with Sarawak boxing legend Sapok Biki and Kilat Boy (October 14–15), a youth outreach activity in Tatau (October 16), a mental health talk (October 18), a talent competition, a youth carnival run, and an entrepreneurial marketplace featuring 30 booths run by Sarawakian young entrepreneurs.
The closing ceremony is scheduled for October 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bintulu Civic Centre, to be officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who will also present the “Sarawak Youth Award” to outstanding individuals and youth organizations.
More than 5,000 participants are expected for the week-long event, which will also feature performances by local Sarawakian singers including Daniel Leong, Lucy M, Nurul Zahnesha, Alexander Peter, Tuah Jili, and JayC Panganiban, as well as special guest performers from Peninsular Malaysia such as One Avenue Band.
Abdul Karim called on all parties to lend their full support to ensure the success of the 2025 Sarawak Youth Week, emphasizing that the event aligns with the ‘Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030’ (PCDS 2030), aiming to spark positive transformation and cultivate a resilient young generation.
Other guests present at the press conference included Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, Deputy Minister for Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, and the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Morshidi Fredrick.
