(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th December) Brunei and Japan have implemented a new visa-free measure, allowing citizens of both countries to stay in Brunei for up to 30 days without a visa.

This reciprocal agreement takes effect on December 10, as announced after the two countries exchanged diplomatic notes in March.

To celebrate this milestone, Brunei International Airport held a welcome reception for passengers arriving from Japan, featuring a traditional Hadrah welcoming dance performance.

Japanese Ambassador to Brunei, Mr. Tetsu Maeda, and Acting Director of the Tourism Development Department, Ms. Salinah, attended the welcome ceremony.

Ambassador Maeda expressed hope that the visa-free policy would encourage more travel and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. He also noted that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Brunei.

Japanese tourists have shown great enthusiasm for the new visa-free policy.

Frequent visitor to Brunei, Takumi Matsuzaki, believes this will encourage more Japanese tourists to explore the country's pristine forests, rich culture, and diverse cuisine.

Another traveler, Takahiro Hirayama, expressed his excitement about returning to Brunei and exploring more attractions such as mosques, museums, and local cuisine.
