(Bandar Seri Begawan, 20th) On behalf of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Brunei Bandar Seri Begawan, President Lim Han Cheong warmly welcomes all parties to the multi-stakeholder dialogue on strengthening the framework for work injury compensation. He expressed his honor in co-hosting this important meeting with Legislative Council members and working closely with the Brunei Bar Association and the Brunei Insurance and Takaful Association.

The event was held this morning at the second-floor banquet hall of Gadong Sentral Point. President Lim pointed out that the purpose of this meeting is to build a more coordinated and transparent work injury compensation system that safeguards employees' rights while also supporting employers in fulfilling their responsibilities effectively. He emphasized that workplace safety and compensation are crucial to the socio-economic stability of the country. 'No worker should feel their rights are being violated, and no employer should feel confused when carrying out their responsibilities.'

President Lim Han Cheong said that the work injury compensation system has long been at the heart of balancing the interests of employees and employers. However, with the development of various industries and the emergence of new forms of work, this system must keep pace with the times, ensuring fairness, transparency, and sustainability. 'A well-functioning system can build trust, improve compliance, and boost productivity, benefitting everyone.'

He stressed that today’s dialogue provides an open platform for policymakers, regulators, insurance companies, legal experts, and business leaders to exchange ideas. Through sharing views, it is expected that practical measures for improvement can be found, and coordination among all sectors can be strengthened. The Chinese Chamber of Commerce feels honored to support and participate in this collaboration.

President Lim stated, 'We believe progress in this area will not only strengthen the workplace but also reinforce society’s commitment to responsibility and mutual support.' He looks forward to today’s discussions yielding constructive results and having a profound impact on society.
