(Seria, 11th) Sun De'an, Permanent Honorary Chairman of Chung Hwa Middle School in Brunei and President of the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, recently attended the inaugural 2026 Borneo Red Wolf Cultural Festival held at the Peace Hall of Chung Hwa Middle School in Brunei. The event brought together cultural, literary, and calligraphy figures from Brunei, Malaysia, and other regions to celebrate this grand cultural occasion.
The festival was jointly organized by Red Wolf Media & Culture, Chung Hwa Middle School Brunei, and the Brunei Chinese Calligraphy and Culture Association. It featured a variety of rich and diverse activities, including the Borneo Calligraphy Competition, poetry recitation, master lectures, cultural forums, poetry film sharing, AI and calligraphy exchanges, calligraphy Q&A sessions, and traditional papermaking workshops. The event aimed to promote outstanding traditional Chinese culture and foster the exchange of arts and culture among the three Borneo regions.
Sun De'an stated that Chinese culture has a long and profound history, with literature, calligraphy, and art being important carriers of Chinese culture and key bridges connecting Chinese communities worldwide. He praised the organizers for holding the cultural festival, which provided a platform for cultural workers, educators, and young students to learn from and exchange ideas with one another, playing a positive role in passing on the torch of Chinese culture.
He said that the inheritance of culture requires joint effort from all sectors of society, and the participation of the younger generation is particularly crucial. He hopes that even more cross-regional cultural activities will be held in the future to strengthen the links between Brunei and other cultural organizations throughout Borneo, working together to promote Chinese culture on a broader international stage.
The event attracted a large number of calligraphers, poets, cultural workers, teachers, students, and members of the public. The on-site atmosphere was lively, fully demonstrating the importance the Borneo Chinese community attaches to the inheritance and development of Chinese culture. It also embodied the event’s purpose of "Inheriting Chinese Culture, Promoting Tri-National Exchange, and Creating a Better Future Together."
