Southwest Civil Aviation College of Sichuan released a notice about the 'Pan-American Spring Holiday', calling on all faculty, staff, and students to put down their books and work, and spend the spring holiday with family, loved ones, or friends. As one of the first universities in China to implement a spring holiday system, the school has adhered to this initiative for eight consecutive years, allowing tens of thousands of faculty and students to step out of campus and experience the beauty of nature and life every spring.
“Since we started the spring holiday in 2019, it has become a fixed holiday unit in our school, beloved by teachers, students, and praised by society.” The relevant official from the school said in an interview with reporters that by encouraging teachers and students to go out on spring outings, it not only allows everyone to appreciate the ecological beauty of green mountains and rivers, but also creates opportunities to experience the beauty of romance, making it an innovative initiative that deeply integrates life education, emotional education, and social practice. According to the school, the spring holiday does not shorten the normal teaching time. Instead, a centralized break period is achieved by reasonably adjusting weekends and the Qingming Festival holiday, thus balancing study, work, and rest.
Reporters learned that the school has designed a wide variety of practical tasks around the theme of the spring holiday, with assignments including travel diaries, growth reports, handicrafts, Douyin (TikTok) videos, and more. After returning to school, a special spring holiday assignment exhibition will be held. From enjoying leisurely moments amidst seas of flowers to experiencing the tenderness of first love, from co-creating creative works with AI to learning intangible cultural heritage skills, from participating in volunteer service to give back to the community to tasting local delicacies, the diverse options make the spring holiday full of personalized meaning. Notably, this year the school especially encourages students to leverage their professional expertise to endorse their hometowns, combining their knowledge with rural revitalization strategies and contributing to the development of local industries through practical actions.
