U.S. Secretary of State Rubio said that the U.S. military would not deliberately strike schools. Previously, Iranian media reported that on the first day of attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran, a girls' school was hit by an airstrike, resulting in more than 160 deaths.
According to reports, this attack occurred on February 28 at a primary school for girls in southern Iran and was considered the deadliest attack amid U.S.-Iran conflict.
On the 2nd, Rubio told reporters: "If that was our military operation, the Department of Defense would launch an investigation. I would ask you to direct your questions to them." He added: "The United States would not deliberately target schools for attack."
The U.S. Department of Defense and Central Command did not respond to requests for comment. Over the weekend, Central Command told media it was reviewing reports on "civilian casualties resulting from military operations."
