Former member of the CCP Politburo Standing Committee and former Premier of the State Council of China, Zhu Rongji, passed away in Beijing on Wednesday (August 12), at the age of 98.
On Wednesday evening, Xinhua News Agency released a statement: With deep sorrow, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference solemnly announce: An outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a loyal communist soldier who has stood the test of time, an excellent proletarian revolutionary and statesman, an outstanding leader of the party and the country, Zhu Rongji, who served as a member of the 14th and 15th Central Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China and as Premier of the State Council, passed away in Beijing at 11:06 a.m. on August 12, 2026, after medical treatment failed, at the age of 98.
