(Kuching, 19th) Sarawak is highly committed to further strengthening its relations with China in the form of cooperation and initiatives.
Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, stated that Sarawak's strategic location, natural resources, and emphasis on green energy provide tremendous opportunities for collaboration.
Furthermore, Sarawak is rich in biodiversity and is home to some of the oldest rainforests in the world.
“This ecological wealth not only offers opportunities for eco-tourism but also for research and development in sustainable practices. Additionally, our diversified economy has strengths in agriculture, manufacturing, and services, making us a strong partner in the Malaysia-China cooperation framework.”
Abang Johari expressed these views through the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government of Sarawak, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee , who read his speech at the opening of the Malaysia (Sarawak)-China Cooperation Forum and Friendly Cities Roundtable Meeting.
In his speech, Abang Johari also mentioned that the Sarawak government is rapidly advancing in the digital economy, with initiatives aimed at making Sarawak a center of innovation and technology.
He said that in the current context, this spirit of cooperation is reflected in various initiatives such as joint infrastructure projects, educational exchanges, and collaborative research in the fields of life, renewable energy, and environmental protection.
“We hope to create history together, building a sustainable and prosperous future. Our focus includes strengthening trade relations, promoting cultural exchanges, and enhancing educational partnerships. By leveraging our unique strengths and working together, we can achieve extraordinary results.”
