A funeral in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, has attracted widespread attention after the family hired scantily clad female dancers to perform a hot dance in front of the coffin on the last night of the ceremony.
The Bangkok Post reported on the 24th that this unusual ritual took place on the 21st at Daiphanonchoo Temple in Ron Phibun District. It is reported that before the cremation, the family arranged the sizzling dance performance to fulfill one of the deceased’s final wishes.
The event drew a large number of local residents into the temple. The atmosphere at the scene was a mix of surprise and laughter, but it also sparked criticism from some.
Some elderly attendees considered such performances highly inappropriate for a solemn occasion like a funeral; however, the younger generation believed that such a colorful farewell could help ease the sadness and serve as a celebration of the deceased’s life.
The family explained that their decision was made to honor the deceased’s last request: not to let sorrow dominate the funeral, but to create a lively atmosphere so that friends and relatives could recall happy memories with smiles.
