(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) The Labour Department discovered multiple violations of labour laws during an enforcement operation at a building material supplier in Kampong Menglait on July 21.
Upon inspection, officers found that the supplier had breached the Employment Order, involving five violations, including failure to provide written contracts, operating at an undeclared premises, and employing foreign workers under the guarantee of another company. In addition, one worker was found performing duties inconsistent with their approved job position.
Employers found in breach of regulations may face a maximum fine of $1,000 per violation, and failure to pay fines may result in legal prosecution.
