(Kuching, 5th) The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, emphasized that Sarawak's efforts to restore rights should not be seen as an act of greed.
He insisted that all of Sarawak's demands are based on effective laws and the constitution.
"This is the principle behind it. If you are greedy, like others who want to take away our rights, they will say we are greedy. But we are not greedy. In fact, right is still right, and wrong is still wrong. Our constitution makes it quite clear, as stated in Article 47 of the Sarawak Constitution, the inheritance of property is very explicit, and so is the Federal Constitution."
He said this at the Sarawak Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) appreciation dinner last night.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari also stated that the Sarawak Constitution and the federation must always be defended.
"That's why I told Datuk Amar Douglas that I stand here to protect the Sarawak Constitution and the Federal Constitution."
