(Seria, 20th) Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Xiao Jianguo attended the 94th Anniversary Gala of Seria Chung Hwa Middle School last night and extended warm congratulations to the school in his speech.
Ambassador Xiao pointed out that since its founding in 1931, Seria Chung Hwa Middle School has weathered ninety-four years of trials and tribulations, always adhering to the philosophy of serving the public through education and focusing on cultivating people. The school has remained steadfast through changing times. Upholding the principle of trilingual education and emphasizing all-round development, it has continually integrated elements of Chinese culture into its curricula, cultural activities, and student exchanges over the years, nurturing a large number of outstanding talents who understand and love Chinese culture. This has made positive contributions to promoting traditional Chinese culture and fostering closer people-to-people ties between China and Brunei.
He said that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was successfully held last month, during which proposals for formulating the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" were adopted, drawing a blueprint for China's economic and social development in the next five years, demonstrating China's determination to maintain a high level of opening up, and bringing more stability and positive energy to the world. The session also proposed promoting the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, advancing the great cause of national reunification, and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Ambassador Xiao stated that he hopes and believes that Chinese schools in Brunei, including Seria Chung Hwa Middle School, will continue to adhere to the One-China principle, firmly support the cause of the motherland's reunification, and work hand in hand with the Embassy to deepen cooperation and exchanges related to Chinese language and culture, and promote the building of a community of shared destiny for Chinese language towards greater development.
He said: "A nation prospers when education prospers; friendship lasts when culture is passed on." Seria Chung Hwa Middle School bears an important mission in promoting Chinese language and culture exchanges and the development of Chinese education in Brunei. He hopes the school will continue to give full play to its educational strengths and promote further progress, creating better conditions for the younger generation in Brunei to learn the Chinese language and embrace Chinese culture. The Chinese Embassy will also continue to provide all possible support to Chinese schools in Brunei, including Seria Chung Hwa Middle School, to help Chinese-language education flourish.
