Recently, live-streaming home sales have become popular in Taiwan, but some controversies have also arisen. Superstar Jay Chou's (Jay's) mother, Ye Huimei, previously encountered a setback when buying a house. In 2008, she spent NT$27 million (about RM3.72 million) to purchase a pre-sale house in Tamsui, but after moving in, she discovered that the surroundings were adjacent to a cemetery area. Infuriated, she sued the developer.
In 2008, Ye Huimei spent NT$27 million to buy a pre-sale house in Tamsui, New Taipei, but only after moving in did she find out it was near a cemetery. Believing the developer had deliberately concealed this information, she filed a lawsuit. However, the court determined that a cemetery is not a facility within the project scope, so the developer was not suspected of concealment. As a result, Ye Huimei lost the case. This incident prompted the authorities to revise the "Real Estate Statement," explicitly requiring developers to proactively inform buyers if there are cemeteries, substations, or other undesirable facilities near the project, thereby protecting homebuyers’ right to know.
