(Kabong, 15th) — A local man suspected of drug trafficking was arrested yesterday (14th) after police found suspected methamphetamine (Meth) in his shoulder bag, bringing his alleged drug dealing activities to an end.
The 32-year-old suspect was apprehended by the Saratok District Police Special Operations Team at Kampung Sessang during the police's "Ops Tapis Khas" (Special Screening Operation).
Acting on intelligence, police tracked down the suspect and intercepted him on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking activities.
Saratok District Police Chief, Superintendent Mathew Manggie, stated that when police searched the suspect’s shoulder bag, they found three plastic packets containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine (Meth).
The suspect and the seized drugs were subsequently brought back to the Saratok Police Station for further investigation.
Urine test results showed the suspect was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Background checks revealed that the suspect, originally from Sarikei, has two prior drug-related convictions.
The case is currently being investigated under Sections 12(2) (possession of drugs) and 15(1)(a) (drug use) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
