[Anti-Corruption Rally 2.0] 3 Police Reports Received, Police Confirm 1 Injured

(Kuala Lumpur, 29th) — A conflict broke out during the “People’s Anti-Corruption Rally 2.0” held in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (June 28), and police confirmed they have received three reports, with one person injured.
Jinma District Police Chief Sulizmi released a statement indicating that the rally, organized by the “People’s Anti-Corruption Secretariat,” started at 3:02 pm and ended at 6:40 pm, involving about 100 participants, including university student organizations.
He said that around 4:30 pm, a participant set off smoke, causing thick smoke that affected the safety and health of other participants.
“Therefore, the police took preventive measures to ensure the smoke would not spread.”

Sulizmi pointed out that when police took preventive actions, a clash occurred between rally participants and police officers, resulting in one person being injured.
Nevertheless, he said, the police managed to resolve the conflict and received three reports.
He stated that the police are investigating the case under Section 353 of the Penal Code as well as Section 3(5) and 14 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955.
He urged the public not to engage in excessive speculation, and if anyone has any information, they may call the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2115 9999, the Jinma District Control Center at 03-2600 2222, or go to the nearest police station to assist the investigation.
